Nube blanca y ligera, fibrosa y frágil y con forma de filamentos de lana cardada. Se presenta en las regiones superiores (entre 6 y 10 km de altitud) de la atmósfera, sin sombras, frecuentemente de una brillantez sedosa. Está formada por cristales de hielo muy finos (agujas de hielo) Cielo con altos cirros al atardecer.
